Subject: Complex object length quantification - msg#00172

Date: Prev Next Index Thread: Prev Next Index
Happy holiday to everyone,
I am trying to measure the number of and individual lengths of spikes
growing out of a central bead (sphere). In particular, I would like to
draw 3 progressively larger circles (100 microns, 200 microns, and 300
microns in diamenter) around the bead and have ImageJ count the number
of points crossing a particular circle. This way we could see the
number of spikes crossing the 100 or 200 or 300 micron circles to
determine how many spokes are larger than 300 microns, 200-300 microns,
and finally 100-200 microns in length. Finally, I would like the data
to be dumped into an excel spreadsheet.

Assumptions:
1) all spokes radiate from the central bead.
2) the bead can be photographed so that it is in the center of the
field.
3) one bead per image

Note: if it makes life significantly easier, I can take flouresent
images so that the contrast is significantly improved and the program
may be able to identify "spokes" more easily.
Thanks to everyone for their help

Anil

Re: Java on Win XP 64bit

I just tried to start ImageJ on a Windows XP 64bit system, but an error message "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine" appears. So I downloaded the 64bit version of Java 2 SDK 1.4.2_10, but there appears another error message "Installation package is not supported by this processor type". Processor is a Dual Pentium D 3,2 GHz. Do you have any suggestions how to solve this problem? Which Windows version of ImageJ did you try? The one bundled with Java 1.3.1 or the one with Java 5.0? The one with the newer version of Java is more likely to work on Windows XP x64. -wayne

Scantron analysis

Hi all. I'm very new to ImageJ. I'm trying to use ImageJ to analyze a scantron-like fill-in-the-bubble questionnaire. I've gotten the bubbles circled using 'analyze particles', but how do I tell ImageJ to measure how filled-in the particles are and dump the result to a spreadsheet? Thanks! Filter linked cells from alone cells

Dear ImageJ Community, Sorry for this new-bye question. On a image I have 2 types of cells grouped cells attached together and alone cells. Does anyone know how to filter grouped cells from alone cells? After a Threshold of my image the quality is not good enough to keep all the link between the cells so I get a lot of wrong isolated cells after a Analyse particle setting a min and max. Any clue? Thanks a lot Paul A
