I am not sure if you asking for this.... See if it this is what you are looking for...
probably you can start a thread which starts a ui thread which search for some components which are only on the dialog. If you find those components you can start executing the steps on the dialog using standard abbot APIs. Or you can search for the dialog with specific title.

Thanks for the suggestions,

I' ve checked uispec4j and while promising it is used
only to test Swing apps while mine is SWT apps.
