Re: BCEL jar version: msg#00024java.findbugs.general
FindBugs uses its own version of BCEL. It is a variant of BCEL 5.2, and a patch with the differences is in findbugs/src/patches/bcel.diff We made a number of changes to BCEL that reduced the total memory allocation and footprint of FindBugs by close to one third. Why can't FindBugs use a non-standard version of BCEL in Ubuntu/Debian? I've talked with the BCEL people about getting our changes into the main version of BCEL, but at least one of the changes we made isn't compatible (it performs HashConsing of ConstantUtf8 objects, and thus the setBytes method of a ConstantUtf8 throws UnsupportedOperationException in the FindBugs version).
