Unable to get Findbugs to work with Eclipse on two different machines: msg#00052java.findbugs.general
I am unable to install the Eclipse plug-in for findbugs on either my work machine of my personal machine. Eclipse 3.1.1 (Eclipse 3.2 work machine) JDK 1.5 (JDK 1.4 work machine) Both are on XP professional I have checkstyle and PMD loaded on both machines and they both work. Personal Machine. I have tried the Help/software update /find and install / Search for new features to install with no success. I tried to put in a link to the download site but it always timed out on the attempt to connect possibly because of the requirement to pick a mirror site. I have tried to put in the link directly to the mirror site but that also does not work. I tried using new local site or new archive site to point to the directory or zip file on my local drive but that also did not work. (It did work for CheckStyle installation) I download the zip file and unzipped it into the Eclipse plug-in directory on my personal machine. When Eclipse comes up it does not load the plug-in. When I go to About Help/ SDK /plug in details on my personal machine, I do not see Findbugs. When I right click on the project I do not see FindBugs Work Machine I have tried the Help/software update /find and install Search for new features to install with no success. I tried to put in a link to the download site but it always timed out on the attempt to connect possibly because of the requirement to pick a mirror site. I tried using new local site or new archive site to point to the directory or zip file on my local drive but that also did not work. I download the zip file and unzipped it into the Eclipse plug-in directory on my personal machine. When Eclipse come up it appears to find the plugin however it doesn't work. When I right click on a project I see the option to run FindBugs. When I run FindBugs I do not find any bugs. No bug is marked in the editor nor do any come up in the problem window. I also do not get the funny icon to click on in the problem window to make them appear. I feel like I have missed a step on my work machine. Thank you
