[xmlc] Setting text value without using <span> tag

Hi all,

 

am a newbie. is it possible to set the value within a cell (<TD>) of a table(<Table>)  dynamically without using a <Span> tag

 

I.e., without using setTextXYZ() method something like setNodeValue()  / setNodeText()
