Haven't experienced problems with XMLC. We use a toXML() method on our
business logic value objects, and their we want to check that the
content gets properly escaped to proper xml. (So it's not a real XMLC
topic, but I will take a look at the DOMFormatter source.)

The DOMFormatter should do this for you unless you send markup through
as a CDATA section. What special characters are you having troubles
with? Have you tried them out already using XMLC find that they are
failing to be escaped?
