could you please explain the 'balking of IE' you're talking about. The
HTML guy (the one who used span with "id=middle") says that IE 5+
doesn't have any problem with his static HTML presentation. He sees no
reason of removing the "id"'s.

Yeah, I found it - it's hardcoded so I patched enhydra. Should be
possible to set it at runtime in next version of Enhydra...
