Shark: Re: Shark: Important announcment !!!: msg#00008java.enhydra.shark
Hello Excellent news! I obtained my CVS copy as soon as I saw the message and have been happily using it for much of today. I look forward to the new features in the next releases with much anticipation - keep up the great work! I've been using the JavaClassToolAgent quite a bit today and thought I'd share a couple of bits of information, that may not be immediately obvious to somebody just starting to look at the Tool Agents: * Firstly, if you run the Shark applications individually (i.e. you don't use the runAll script), then don't forget to run the sharktoolagents.jar file. More importantly, don't kill it off when you see the message "Tool agents registered with the nameserver" and it appears to be doing nothing - IT NEEDS TO BE KEPT RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND. This application doesn't just register the Tool Agents - it runs them too. Perhaps the addition of a "runTA" script that runs this code a similar way to tns, run, etc, would be useful (I'll be happy to come up with the files if necessary)?. * Secondly, if you're using the JavaClassToolAgent, bear in mind that any of your classes (and dependent classes) that are to be called by the Agent need to be in the classpath of the Tool Agent program. I.e. instead of simply running: java -jar sharktoolagents.jar <NS_HOST> <NS_PORT> <YOURCOMPUTERNAME> It is more useful to run: java -cp <yourClasspathDetails>:sharktoolagents.jar org.webdocwf.util.pea.ToolAgentService <NS_HOST> <NS_PORT> <YOURCOMPUTERNAME> That's it! Hopefully these tips may save some people from a little bit of head scratching. Apologies if this information has already been covered on the mailing list since this morning - I don't get to see any updates to the list until the following morning. Best regards Rich. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!
