Parsing XML - getChild problem

Is it correct, that kDOM is only for jsdk and if I write a programm for a mobile-phone I cannot use it?

 

I parse an xml File with the org.kxml.parse.XMLParser. There is no method for getting a child-element of an element. Do I have to programm this by hand or are there other possibilities? (Now I am trying to write it with the Parseevents, but thats uncomfortable)
