Subject: AW: (no subject)

Hi !

Since Prof. Karagiannis is a very good partner of my company and we are
users of Adonis, I am pleased to answer questions of his students ;-)

The comparison of your picture must be done in a wider context with
Enhydra AND Java.

The "Common language runtime" corresponds almost completely to the "Java
runtime environment". There are differences in Installtime vs.
Developmenttime compilation...

The "Base Class library" corresponds to the "Java runtime class
libraries of the JRE". Collection classes, security, communication, etc.

The "Data and XML Classes" correspond somehow to "Java JDBC", "JDO" and
"Java API for XML Persing - JAXP" based on "Xerves" and "Xalan".

The "ASP.NET XML Web Services" correspond to Apache/SOAP and/or
Apache/Axis. Soap is included in Enhydra 5.1. Axis (follow on project to
Soap) will be included in Enhydra 6.0.

The "Windows Forms" correspond somehow to "Java Swing"

The "ASP.NET Web Forms" correspond somehow to "Servlets", "JSPs" and/or
"Enhydra XMLC"

The "Common language specifications" correspond to the "Java language
specifications", but in the Java area there is more or less only one
language: "Java".

The "Common type system" correspond to "Java primitve datatypes"

As mentioned before, for "Complient languages" there is more or less
just one language: "Java". Of course there are already alternative
projects like "Pizza", etc. But they have no big footprint on the market
(my 2 cents).

Of course Java Webservices and .NET webservices can interact wiwth each
other. We are doing that in one of our projects already...

I am sorry, bu there is almost NO german documentation, since Enhydra is
an international project and the main language is English. There is a
chinese documentation (getting started guide) but I think this will not
be of any help for you :-)

Greetings to you and Prof. Karagiannis !

Alfred Madl

Dear Enhydra Team!

My name ist Matyas M., I study Business Computing in Vienna, Austria,
Europe. I joined a stressy university-course called "Web Services". Our
main lecturer is Prof. Karagiannis (who is leading in the
Adonis-project: business-process management). One vision of my course
"Web Services" is to "lift the actual internet onto a new level". The
second vision is "intelligent software, which can process matters, that
has been characterized by metadata". My vision is to pass this course
(by writing a nice presentation).

Now I would politely ask You, can You tell me, which parts of the
attached graph (fig01.gif) are presently included and which WILL be
included in the Enhydra-project in future?

Second, can You shwo me an online access to a German documentation i.e.
a complete characterization of Enhydra and Enhydra-related topics?

Thank you very much in advance for Your endeavors,

Matyas
