Constant App Restarting

Hey all, this is perhaps a rather sweeping inquiry, but I figure it can't
hurt to ask.

Several Enhydra 5.0 Applications I help maintain have recently (within the
last couple months) began to fail like clockwork every day or so, and the
server.log reports a bunch of "Communication link failure:
java.net.SocketException" exceptions either during the creation or execution
of queries (both have occurred). The end result of course is empty listings
and often exceptions on the site. However, simply restarting the application
via the Enhydra admin fixes the problem.

Has anyone experienced this type of peculiar behavior before?
