Java and XML programming skills level requirements

Hi!

I am initiating a project and want to uses both Java and XML. I want to increase my knowledge on these two technologies and apply it on a non profit organisation that is just about to be created. I am interested into Enhydra Application Server and would like to get your point of view. I am a Windows (MS) migrating to Linux. Also, are Apache and MySQL compliant with Enhydra?
