Enhydra 5.0 for Windows: msg#00012

Subject: Enhydra 5.0 for Windows

Enhydra 5.0 for Windows native compiles (using Excelsior JET compiler)
are now final and ready for download on debian-sf. Some short
explanations on the scenarios:

1: Shows how Enhydra Multiserver can be compiled into an exe and
applications can be optionally compiled into DLL's or executed as
jar-files in mixed-mode with JIT at runtime.

2: Shows how Enhydra Multiserver AND applications together can be
compiled into a SINGLE exe including all ressources, conf's... If you
ship applications together with Enhydra to your customers and want to
keep installation simple, this is a very nice packaging option of
everything iinto a single executable. This scenario could also be
combined with scenario 3 (Windows service, etc.).

3: Can be used WITHOUT any prereqs and shows how all possible things can
be done to really support Windows. Enhydra Multiserver is compiled as a
native Windows System Service (without any additional wrapper or so...),
runtime components are installed under "system32\enhydra" and
applications can be executed as DLL's (like scenario 1) or as jar files
in mixed mode with persistent JIT from the jar files into DLL's. So this
scenario can be used right away (without any additional JET compiles
!!!) to install and execute your existing applications as jar files.
They get automatically compiled and stored as DLLs during first start or
after jar-file modification. So if you are using Enhydra under Windows I
really would recommend to use this compile...things become really faster
! And there is NO runtime license of JET or so...

4: Is a variation of scenario 2 with a different (more optimized)
compilation mode "perfect". But does not support runtime compilation of
jar's, jsp's...

If this technology is of interest to you, please feel free to ask for
our commercial services.

Feedback is very welcome.

Greetings.

Alfred
