Regarding Linux we are also trying native compiles
using GCJ. We already have an almost working compile of an application running (based
on Enhydra 3.1). Since this area is rather new for us, I think it will take
some time. Excelsior/JET for Windows is a VERY advanced compiler. GCJ is rather
“work in progress”. I can recommend JET compiled Enhydra
applications for Windows for production usage (we are doing it since about 8
months now in a really big project). The support from company “Excelsior”
is excellent ! I can NOT recommend GCJ compilations for Linux for production
usage yet. And I am not sure if GCJ compiled applications will support all
features like JET (mixed mode of native compiles and jar’s, JIT with
persistence of JITed classes with automatic recompile if jar’s are changed,
…).
Greetings.
