Thank you all indeed for the responses to my problem.

Now, it is working, and the problems were as follows:

1.    Yes,  DatabaseManager.DB.simpledb.JdbcDriver  had to be  
"org.postgresql.Driver" , not "postgresql.Driver" as I had done initially.

2.    I had missed to put pg72jdbc2.jar in the CLASSPATH of input/run.in 
file.
