Subject: Where is DODS GUI in 4.1 Release?

Greetings all,

I've recently "discovered" enhydra and have been going through the "Getting Started With Enhydra" tutorial which is quite well done. Everything has been working fabulously, but unfortunately I have run into a problem which is proving to be quite aggravating: I'm having difficulties with the version of DODS (2.3?) that comes packaged with Enhydra 5.0. I'm running on Mac OS X (10.2.2) and whenever I try to load or save a file, I get an error and a big error trace is printed to the terminal. I figured I would just try the newest build of DODS (4.1) and I've downloaded and built the code . . . but I can't figure out how to run it.

What do I need to run to launch the DODS 4.1 GUI? I don't see any nifty "dods" shell script like the one provided with Enhydra 5.0 . . . I looked on the DODS "Getting Started" page, and it says

"Run DODS by executing the command output/bin/dods. As a simple example collection of Data Objects, let's use Customers, Stores and Store Employees."

But I have no 'output' directory . . . when I build the DODS project with Ant, all it does is build dods.jar. I noticed dods.jar is put into a WEB-INF folder with a web.xml file, so I thought that maybe the 4.1 version of the DODS GUI was a web servlet application instead of a stand-alone Java app, but the web.xml file is blank, and I couldn't find any classes that inherited from Servlet in the DODS 4.1 source, so I'm guessing my theory about DODS 4.1 being a web app is incorrect. But the DODS 4.1 source doesn't include any of the com.lutris.dods.gui.* classes which made up the GUI in the DODS version that comes with the Enhydra 5.0 distribution.

If anyone had any suggestions as to how I should run DODS 4.1, I would be very grateful.

Cheers,

-Dane Avilla
