Sorry I don't have the answer to your question, however there have been some
discussions recently on the XMLC list regard XML issues.

I think your question might need to be directed to the XMLC list instead. XMLC
is a separate project from the Enhydra app server.

We have seen that the new enhydra5.0 XMLC does not translate HTML tags
like &nbsp to unicode characters - it treats them as straight text. I
am not certain what changed since since enhydra3.1 (anyone?) but I
imagine it had something to do with better standards. It will work if
you select the actual unicode character for what you are seeking (for
example u\00a0).
