When this problem will be soluted?

Hi,I find this in the mailing-list:

It's on my to-do list:  a new method
   XxxQuery.getDOArray( int maxRows )
to be called repeatedly for batches of results.
When called after all DOs have been returned,
this method will return an empty array.

I wonder when this will be soluted,and is there any other way to do the same 
thing?
