Why would you want to provide less information in the detailed message? That 
makes debugging the reason a class could not be found more difficult.

I prefer the more helpful message.  Many of Sun's exception messages are 
cryptic and less than useful.

 We changed this error message to match Sun's because it makes some of our 
regression tests simpler.  For some tests, we verify JikesRVM by running the 
same code on it and the Sun JVM and comparing the output.

 We can work around this without too much trouble if you believe your current 
error messages are better,
