Re: Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5 Developer Preview (9M3092): msg#01554java-dev

Creating an exhaustive uninstaller may not be possible given the existing Installer.app, but I think the ability to lay down parallel JDK's and switch between them is something that the Java team could do to provide a high pay-off to the early adopters ability to test and regress bugs. This is *extremely* good news! I really hope you find that the extra effort is worth it! I personally think that being able to fast switch between runtime environments and test apps, is essential for letting people test the Java DPs. Keep in mind that most people's Java IDEs are written in Java so these will also be affected by the Java version (like the latest Java update and IntelliJ IDEA problems). The productivity drop caused by applying a backup/restarting/etc that other people have suggested just doesn't work for me, even though it's not technically "difficult" to do so. Looking forward to having mulitple Java versions installed side by side, :-) -- Harald K _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list. They will be ignored.
