back-compatible patch for .4.13 with old kernel: msg#00276

Subject:	back-compatible patch for .4.13 with old kernel

for the coming 0.4.13 release, here is the back compatible patch for
older kernel including 2.6.11, 2.6.12, 2.6.13.

so later if anybody has compilation error because of this, we can ask
him/her to check email archival. :P
