RE: recommend a configuration?: msg#00253

Subject: RE: recommend a configuration?
This brings up a question I've been meaning to ask...

I'm using iet to present LVM2 lv data to both Windows and Linux servers.
Works great for what I need. Question is this: Can you tell iet to
rescan the sizes of its lu and present any changes to the ini? It would
be great if I could resize the lv using LVM2 and then propagate those
changes to the ini without having to either restart iet or remove /
create the lun (if it can already do this, then I'm already happy).

Of course, the ini would have to support rescanning the target to pick
up the change. After that, using a fs which can be resized online (such
as ext3 and dynamic ntfs disks) will facility the no downtime
requirement.

As of yet, I haven't personally had the true need for this, but I'm sure
that will be there in the future. Maybe an option like ietadm --op
update --tid=X --lun=Y --rescan....I don't know. :)
