Re: Defrag Problem: msg#00069ipod.ephpod
Thanks for the reply, atleast I'm not alone in the problem. Actually I finaly got it to defrag after taking it to work and usings a brand new WinXP machine to defrag it. And it did take like 4 hours to do it. But on my iPod I have like 51% free space (2nd Gen 10GB Mac-to-Win iPod). At first I thought it was the firewire card I was using at home (VIA Chipset), the the computers at work had the same issues of taking forever, with both NEC and TI chipsets. It just doesn't make sense for me, if it can write to the iPod at 6-7.5MB/sec and read just as fast, you would think the drive could defrag without a problem. Unless it's a bug (or a feature) to limit internal transfer rates/timeout outs? Do Mac users have this problem, or is it related to the Win-fat32 drives? If anyone could shed some light on this I think it could help us all keep or systems in shape. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sal Cameli" <Sal@xxxxxxxx> To: <animeman@xxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: <ephpod@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, April 26, 2003 4:04 AM Subject: [ephpod] Re: Defrag Problem > > Hello Steven, > > I had the same problems (skipping), I did a scandisk > first and then the defrag worked, But it took forever, > like 6 hours to do the defrag, If the ipod is full it > will take longer. > > I have an original (Mac Version 5gb) reformatted to > Fat32.
