ITtoolbox, a world leader in online communities, is seeking a product
manager to oversee the growth of the ITtoolbox Groups product, consisting of
650 professional online discussion communities covering the Information
Technology (IT) market. 

 

As the ITtoolbox Groups product manager, you will be responsible for driving
successful peer collaboration among ITtoolbox users by helping them evaluate
vendors, manage projects, solve technical problems, and manage their careers
by sharing experience-based knowledge with one another.  Areas of
responsibility include optimization of Internet-based collaboration tools,
operations oversight and team management, product marketing oversight, and
interaction with ITtoolbox community members.  The role will require a
mixture of strategic and tactical leadership, managing a team of four to six
product specialists.


Responsibilities 

*       Lead future growth of discussion group communities by setting goals
and implementing programs and tactics to achieve them.
*       Identify new enhancements and features by conducting research of
community members, competitors, and industry trends to ensure the community
maintains its place as a market leader. 
*       Analyze and incorporate trends that are driving online
collaboration. 
*       Work with the technology team to manage the development process for
product enhancements including requirements definition, project planning,
testing, and deployment. 
*       Work with other highly motivated product teams to ensure proper
integration of discussion groups into web sites and e-mail based content. 
*       Manage a dynamic team of product specialists. 
*       Work with marketing to develop effective and creative product
positioning. 
*       Maximize the revenue contribution of ITtoolbox Groups for internal
client services and sales teams to meet customer needs.

Requirements

*       At least three years of product management experience with either a
web-based community, other web based product, or a software product. 
*       In depth knowledge of trends in online discussion or other online
collaboration tools. 
*       Experience managing other employees. 
*       Good understanding of product marketing and research, web analytics,
and product planning. 
*       Broad understanding of the needs of the professional IT community. 
*       The ability to set goals and carry out a plan to achieve them. 
*       Bachelor's degree or equivalent. 
*       Experience using Microsoft Project a plus.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about and experienced with using
online discussion communities, and will be able to work in a cross
functional team environment including members of the development,
moderation, marketing, sales, and client services teams.
