Technical Writer (Part-Time)

Does your idea of fun involve curling up with a good technical manual?  

A local lawn & garden product company is looking for a part-time
Technical Writer to review, write and edit material for reports,
manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related
technical and administrative publications in print or electronic
media.  Job duties include:

- Observing production, developmental, and experimental activities to
determine operating procedure and detail. 
- Reviewing published materials and recommending revisions or changes
in scope, format, and content.  
- Studying blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists,
specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and
delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and
detail.  
- Organizing material and completing writing assignments according to
set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and
terminology.  
- Maintaining records and files of work and revisions.  
- Creating drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate
material.  
- Assisting in laying out material for publication.  
- Arranging for formatting, reproduction, and distribution of material.

Qualifications: 
- Minimum one year of experience as technical writer or posses a one
year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent
combination of education and experience.  Ability to pay attention to
detail and proofread manual for errors.  
- Intermediate experience with QuarkXPress, Adobe Illustrator and
Adobe Acrobat on a Mac.
- Knowledge of engines and lawn and garden products, in addition to
the ability to understand mechanical drawings is preferred.
