AIX Position - PERM

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an AIX Systems 
Administrator Level II.



Responsible for daily maintenance of production to include:

staging, integration, and performance testing for Unix environment. 
Assist in the architecture, testing, and installation of new systems. 
Responsible for providing system support that includes hardware, and OS 
software. Assist team members with disaster recovery procedures. 
Requires 7x24 on-call duty rotation with other members of the team.



•Assists in the support of UNIX operating systems by monitoring and 
reporting on basic system status.

•Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance.

•Ensures Unix server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and 
managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.

•Conducts routine hardware and software audits of Unix servers for 
compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and 
configuration guidelines.

•Provides second level support to the operations group and on-site 
support for all locations, as required.

•Tunes and validates UNIX system, troubleshooting and resolving problems 
and outages.

•Interacts successfully with other technical staff (DBA’s, system 
programmers, system analysts, application developers, etc.).

•Interacts frequently with third party technology vendors and internal 
facilities staff.

•Performs tasks in a dynamic environment, under stress, optimizing 
availability of system services for end users.

•Rapidly absorbs and implements new technologies and procedures.

•Documents problem investigation and recovery procedures; creates 
documentation on products and procedures for the non-technical end user.

•Supports the security team in creation of user accounts, assignment of 
passwords, etc.



Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Computer 
Science or Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience to 
include troubleshooting, hardware and software diagnostics, system 
monitoring, and project management.



Two to four years' experience in UNIX system administration or other 
system management experience.



TECHNICAL SKILLS



•Perform daily administration tasks on storage devices (SAN, DASD, NAS).

•Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in a fast paced environment.

•Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of Compaq's Tru64, IBM's AIX, 
and Sun's Solaris.

•Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of script language development 
or structured programming experience.

•Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of server hardware, operating 
systems, and a working knowledge of network operating systems.

•Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of local area networking, 
TCP/IP, NFS, DNS, and DHCP.

•Ability to demonstrate general knowledge of MIS organization and roles.

•Ability to understand the role and function of principal users 
associated with assigned areas.

•Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and to bring focus to tasks

•Ability to communicate effectively within the technical services 
organization, both conceptually and technically.

•Ability to perform successfully in a team environment.
