CMMF / CMC Last Call: msg#00173ietf.x509
All, I would like at this time to ask the chairs for a Last Call on both these specs. The CMMF draft has been updated on the IETF site for several weeks now and the CMC draft has been available since Monday. Both reflect planned corrections that were briefed in L.A. In particular CMC contains a couple of changes that may be of interest. Based on input received in L.A., it now requires implementation of CRMF, but maintains the PKCS10-based certificate request as an optional mechanism. Secondly, the prior draft defined a contentType was to identify PKI messages within the general framework of CMS enveloping. Input recieved since L.A. indicated that this is overly restrictive. Use of this OID was subsequently relaxed to provide interoperability with development environments that may not have capability to set contentTypes. Its use is recommended, but not required. Mike |
