Subject: Re: Comment on RTPSEC minutes about architecture

It was not my understanding that keying would begin in the SIP path and
continue in the media path. I thought it would be done in the media path.

Did I miss something?

Dan,
In the architecture section of the executive summary you wrote

ARCHITECTURE
The question of SIP-path versus media-path keying was discussed.
Consensus was for media-path keying (which includes hybrid modes). No
clear consensus for RTP-plane versus RTCP-plane.

While in the detailed minutes is says.

HUM: Media plane + SIP/SDP (Strong)

To me your summary is not capturing the Hum since I thought that the
consensus was that starting with SIP/SDP and if needed to continue the
process in the media path is OK. Which means that every solution SIP/SDP
only, Media path only or start with SIP/SDP and continue with media path
is what people hummed on.

That was my understanding of the Hum as well.

Thanks
