Category: PHP Editor Group: None Status: Open Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Submitted By: luopio (lamekain) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Save dialog pops up all the time Initial Comment: On my Ubuntu Dapper with Eclipse 3.1.2 and the newest PHPEclipse from the CVS update site I have an annoying bug: every time I open/close or switch between files, a save dialog appears. This is a basic GTK-save dialog (running gnome), not the "Save as..."-dialog presented by Eclipse. I noticed that in Preferences->File Associations *.php-files are associated with the "PHP Editor" AND the "Text Editor", but I can't remove the "Text Editor". It reads the same thing as the "PHP Editor": "Locked by PHP source file content type". And the content types are locked as well. The problem is only related to php files - python files, for example, work just fine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Karl Lattimer (synapt1c) Date: 2006-04-20 10:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=872847 Same is happening for me on fedora 5, with php eclipse 1.1.8, the problem didn't exist with 1.1.7 just after i upgraded to 1.1.8. It doesn't happen on any of my other eclipse installations just FC5 with php eclipse. text/python files are fine, so it is 'something' to do with phpeclipse. If i were able to change the default workspace I would, but it seems locked to ~/workspace i find this incredibly anoying as anjuta/glade both use ~/Projects (not a php issue but I'll rant anyway) Anyone know a way to track this bug better than 'something' 'somewhere'? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: luopio (lamekain) Date: 2006-03-15 20:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1026186 location of workspace: /home/abuser/labra/cubicle location of SVN-repository: /home/abuser/kama/svn Checked out project KISS into: /home/abuser/labra/cubicle/KISS -> worked fine Checked out project KISS into: /home/abuser/www/KISS -> save-dialogs all over the place Also tested like this: Created new project "foo" at /home/abuser/labra -> save dialogs raining Created new project "bar" at /home/abuser/labra/cubicle/bar -> no problems ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Huettemann (dynamike2000) Date: 2006-03-15 17:50 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=591629 Can you give an example of your path layout and a list of non-standard plugins you have installed? I am unable to reproduce this on Dapper Drake (and Windows). My workspace is located here /home/mike/workspace To test, using subclipse, I checked a project out to: /home/mike/test No problems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: luopio (lamekain) Date: 2006-03-15 16:50 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1026186 Sorry, but I'll reopen this. I got the problem again and this time I have a better explanation on why this occurs. The problem shows up when I checkout a project through Subclipse to a location outside the workspace. If I use the basic workspace location for the project, everything works just fine, BUT if I don't use the basic workspace and thus the project dir get's created somewhere else the save dialog starts popping up every time a file in the problematic project gets focus. I tested the same procedure on PyDev and checked out one of my python-projects outside the workspace and I didn't get the save-dialog-madness, so it appears to be PHPEclipse related. Could someone else confirm this? I did a totally fresh install, so it should be reproducable on other machines as well.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: luopio (lamekain) Date: 2006-03-10 13:18 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1026186 Solved just as you expected. Did a complete reinstall (removing all the configuration as well), deleted ~/.eclipse and started a fresh workspace. Now everything works just fine. Thanks for the help. p.s. I'd like to point out that the problem wasn't perspective-specific after all, it also started showing up in Java- and PyDev-perspectives. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Huettemann (dynamike2000) Date: 2006-03-09 08:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=591629 To double-check I made sure that this problem does not occur on my Dapper setup while using the PHP perspective, and it does not. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: luopio (lamekain) Date: 2006-03-08 18:28 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1026186 I removed the file associations, but the problem persists. I noticed that the problem only happens when I'm inside the PHP perspective - working under PyDev or Java perspective works just fine. I'm not too keen on doing a complete reinstall, since that would mean hunting down all the plugins again. I think I'll stick to using Java perspective, unless someone really needs to know if removing everything solves the issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Huettemann (dynamike2000) Date: 2006-03-08 13:08 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=591629 There is something wrong with your setup. With a clean install, on Ubuntu Dapper Drake, files of type '*.php' are not listed among the "File Associations". Instead, these are registered in the "Content Types" section. Delete the entire file association, if possible, and try again. Otherwise remove everything Eclipse and reinstall 3.1.2 from the Dapper repositories. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=484801&aid=1444992&group_id=57621 ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
