Vote +1 A lot of performance issues and functional bugs in Eclipse are introduced at very high levels of abstraction, yet manifest themselves at the lowest levels of abstraction. Traditional tools, such as profilers and debuggers, do not help in raising the abstraction levels. Having a coordinated effort to categorize where and what interesting things occur is very important.
