Frank,

All of my files are located on a Linux box, but I run tocmaker from my
pc. I map a drive from my pc and use that on the command line,

tocmaker g:\music

I have never tried the unc method, so it may work. I have also never
created a playlist.

C:\>TOCMaker -k admin:Atron003384 \\Mkt-frankh-home\music

Command returns:
\\Mkt-frankh-home\music: No such file or directory

Do I have to run TOCMaker on the computer that physically contains the music
files?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Not Re NAS...Re Audiostation file truncation

Audiostation is the newest version...and the TDK burner appeared in the list of supported burners. One otehr thing I neglected to mention...as a precaution, I defeated things like pest patrol, Norton real time, and Zone alarm as I thought that might cause some CPU overhead...however...this makes no difference as with any or all defeated the problem still occurs. Very frustrating... "Abraham, Howard E." <Abraham.Howard@xxxxxxxx> wrote: I use AudioStation 6 to rip WAV from CD and I've never noticed the data errors you describe. I doubt the speed of the drive has anything to do with it. It almost sounds like a driver problem to me. Maybe the TDK isn't 100% supported? Are you using an older version of AudioStation? That might be a problem, too. -----Original Message----- From: Turtle Beach Audiotron User Forum [mailto:AUDIOTRON@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mark Jay Sent: Friday, August 20, 2004 1:03 PM To: AUDIOTRON@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [AT] Not Re NAS...Re Audiostation file truncation All: I posted this question in the forum, but got no reply, so I thought I'd toss this out to my digital brethren to see if you had seen or experienced this... Occasionally, when ripping WAV from CD using audiostation, some tracks 'lose' their first 1 second of the file. This appears to be random (i.e. not particularly track-specific). Also, when you first rip the track, in the list you see the track names and their lengths, but then when you play the files, those that have the 1st one second of the track missing do have their corresponding track length decrement by 1 second. It's almost as though the track length is read but then when the file is accessed the track time changes to account for the loss of the 1st second. I shoud, mention that I don't rip MP3's as I use one of the audiotrons in my 'best' home audio system and another in another room (hard drives are cheap...so why not as I can always rip the wav to MP3 for the little memory stick MP3 player that my wife uses). Anyway...this never occurs at the end of a track - always the start. Always. For some tracks it's inconsequential but for others is cheeses me to know end. I do have an older PC (PII 450 with 284 MB running Windows XP Pro). Now...the CD burner is older (TDK) as well and I think can only support 12X read / write. I remember seeing that Audiostation 'required' a minimum of a 16X burner. Do you guys think this is the culprit? If I rip the CD using Nero this 'data loss' never occurs (despite the burner being an old 12X variant) - only with Audiostation, so it's clearly related to the app and (I suspect) the I/O between the app and the CDROM. Question: Would replacing the existing burner with a newer, faster one solve the problem? --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). MP3GAIN Questions/Tips

I've really gotten tired of turning my volume up and down when serving up in Random mode on my AT's. So I guess it is time to normalize my library. (Everthing was processed using EAC/LAME at INSANE/320KB/44.1KHZ mode with the rest of the settings left at default) Based on what I have read it seems that MP3GAIN is the utility of choice for this. >Has everyone had good sucess with it? >Any issues with the way it modifies the .MP3 tag files? >What's the best DB level to standardize in? It seems like the default of 89 is a bit low. Some say 92 is the right choice. I will admit I like my music loud. >Any other tips, tricks, or gotchya's I should know about? If I do this I'm going to do a batch run of like 6500 files while on a business trip next week, so I don't want to F**K IT UP :-). Thanks in advance, Blaine
