Re: New guy question: msg#00122hardware.voyetra.audiotron
Wow, thanks for all the respones. here's the network setups I've tried: 2 pc's hard wired into a Linksys WRT54G wirelessG router (1 of which is the music server.) 1 laptop with Airport Extreme card (wireles g) and then either AT hardwired to Dlink DWL G810 wirelessG bridge (perfect playing of music, no access to web interface, or ping, even when music not playing. Static IP on AT) -or- AT hardwired into Linksys wirelessB router with burned out wireless chip (and wireless disabled anyway, just in case) which is then wired to Dlink bridge (occasional connectivity between AT and music server, good connectivity btwn AT and other laptop with wireless turned off hardwired into same router as AT. also good connectivity btwn said laptop and music server. Tried both STATIC and dynamic IP - no difference) -or- AT hardwired into 3com switch (hub?) which is hardwired to dlink bridge. (didn't pursue this one much, thought it was bad switch) I do have 2.4Ghz phones, so I set up my home wireless to be on channel 11 to avoid as much overlap as possible. The laptop has not had any trouble with the wireless network to date. It also always has 3 of 4 bars in it's little signal strength meter. I do not see any other wireless networks from it either (which only meand they aren't broadcasting their SSID's, but knowing my neighbors, I doubt they have wireless access points) The only problem with running it wired is that I'd have run a cable from crawlspace to attic, which, while certainly possible, is a pain in the hinder :) So far it seems like the combination of AT and wireless bridge that makes things act wierd. Thanks for all the info/suggestions so far, folks! > > From: "Jay A.
