Do you happen to know which update it is that implimnets this so I can
remove it?

  The latest "security" updates from M$ have removed the ability to
specify
the username:password@ in a URL.  This removal is supposed to be for
your
own good because you simply won't stop clicking on those URL's in spam,
so they're going to make it so the click doesn't do anything.
