Subject: [AT] MP3 Gain/Replay Gain

Hello everyone,

I'm new and have been following this list for a while now - great info.
After reading everything that I can find on MP3Gain/ReplayGain, here's my
question(s):
(I'm mainly interested in listening to randomized lists - i.e All Tracks)

-will Audiotron implement the gain adjustment? YES
-does it work well in the real world? YES
-I understand the concept of it being 'lossless', but it seems like some
from the HA forum prefer not to have their 'bitstream data' changed?
-can the gain adjustment be undone? YES, (but not without recording the gain
change I believe.)
-the recent LAME 3.95.1 adds a Replay Gain value to the "LAME tag/header".
This is distinct from the ID3 tag, and not usable by any hardware/software
as of yet? Don't know.
-does Windows Media Player 9 "volume levelling" work the same way as
MP3Gain, Don't think so. or is it simply peak normalization? Will Audiotron
interpret any such changes made by WMP 9? Don't know.
Opinion - MP3Gain is a great program.

thanks in advance
roman
