TINIm400-Q3 can safely be replaced without battery removal. It would be wise
to check the fine-pitched leads (U1, U4, etc.) for damage and the dog's gums
for fiberglass ;-).

I have a new and different problem that I'll bet you that hasn't been seen
on the list....
I got my new TINI400 from Dallas, but not the socket
board yet. So I put the board back in the cut little
carboard box to await the arrival of a socket board.
Later that afternoon imagine my horror looking up
to see my 4 month old Corgi using my new processor
board for a chew bone! I quickly rescued it and under
close inspection I found that she has knocked off
Q3, a MOFSET that appears to be the CPU reset on
power-up circuit.
So here's my question. Can I carefully solder on a
new BSS84 into this circuit without removing the
battery? I read the info on the MAX6365 and it
appears to me that I do not need to worry about it.
However, I am really a software jock that does
enough hardware to be dangerous ;-) So, I would
like to fix my board. Any hints or suggestions are
welcome. Worst case I buy another TINI :-( At least
I still have a 390 to play with in the meantime.
