modprobe: Unknown symbol on 2.6.xx: msg#00089hardware.lirc
I have a problem loading the required modules, see output message: root:~# modprobe lirc_serial lirc_dev: Unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler lirc_dev: Unknown symbol __guard lirc_dev: Unknown symbol _GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_ WARNING: Error inserting lirc_dev (/lib/modules/2.6.14.6-grsec/misc/lirc_dev.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) lirc_serial: Unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler lirc_serial: Unknown symbol __guard lirc_serial: Unknown symbol lirc_unregister_plugin lirc_serial: Unknown symbol _GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_ lirc_serial: Unknown symbol lirc_register_plugin FATAL: Error inserting lirc_serial (/lib/modules/2.6.14.6-grsec/misc/lirc_serial.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) I do not have a symlink /usr/src/linux pointing towards my hardened kernel source, since this 2.4 way_of_working is not advised on a 2.6 system. I have tried that option though, since it was mentioned in your FAQ. It didn't help. So, can I check whether the Makefile is including my kernel sources? In the Makefile I see the value 'kerneldir=/lib/modules/2.6.14.6-grsec/build/'. That is certainly not where my kernel source is. Should it instead point there? If so, any help to replace this value in all the makefiles is appreciated.
