Subject: lirc_serial.ko needs unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler

Hi list,

when I emerge/compile lirc (I'm using Gentoo) I get warnings:
WARNING: //lib/modules/2.6.15-suspend2-r6/misc/lirc_serial.ko needs
unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler
WARNING: //lib/modules/2.6.15-suspend2-r6/misc/lirc_serial.ko needs
unknown symbol __guard
WARNING: //lib/modules/2.6.15-suspend2-r6/misc/lirc_dev.ko needs
unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler
WARNING: //lib/modules/2.6.15-suspend2-r6/misc/lirc_dev.ko needs
unknown symbol __guard

and I can't modprobe the modules:
workstation ~ # dmesg | tail
...
lirc_dev: Unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler
lirc_dev: Unknown symbol __guard
lirc_dev: Unknown symbol _GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_
lirc_serial: Unknown symbol __stack_smash_handler
lirc_serial: Unknown symbol __guard
lirc_serial: Unknown symbol lirc_unregister_plugin
lirc_serial: Unknown symbol _GLOBAL_OFFSET_TABLE_
lirc_serial: Unknown symbol lirc_register_plugin

how can I fix this?
Google told me to try -fno-stack-protector(-all) in CFLAGS, but that
didn't work.

would be nice if somebody could give me a tip.

thanks,
Lorenz
