RE: mode2 reports noise values: msg#00049hardware.lirc
Thanks for your help, Karl. I'll post to the list in case it helps anyone else out. I fixed the problem by replacing the receiver PNA4602M with a similar part, PNA4612M00XD. The only difference here is that the new part has a metal holder. This holder partially obscures the receiver's diode but is not grounded to anything. Anyways, I'm not sure if this holder is blocking RF (the receiver is between my power supply and my 19" CRT) or visible light, but it made all the difference. mode2 only prints values when I press a button and I am able to use irrecord to create a conf file.
