lircd disappearing from processes list

Hi,

I got some issues since a few days.

When I start lirc ("modprobe lirc_serial" then "lircd -d /dev/input/event2"),
every time I start an application using it, mplayer for example, lirc is not
working, and when I check with "ps ax | grep lirc", there is nothing anymore. 
The lirc_serial and lirc_dev modules are still loaded. 
I have to use "lircd -d /dev/input/event2" every time to reload lirc.

There is no message given by mplayer that indicate an error, just "Starting LIRC
support ..." (not sure it's the original english message, I use mplayer in
french).

I use epios (gentoo based) with a 2.6.14-r501 kernel, and lircd 0.8.0pre3. The
ir device is a tv-card PVR-350. The ir itself works, I can use the arrows and
enter buttons.
