Remote Wonder Plus

Is there by chance an update on the status of the ATI Remote Wonder
Plus / RW3? I noted an email on this list some time ago asking about
status but nothing since then. I cannot find much information on this
remote. I did find this interesting thread and even got the script
mentioned from the author but I haven't figured out if Linux has the
same generic USB interfaces as FreeBSD:

I am reading code (lirc, ati_module, etc) but it is slow going.
