Subject: Help, how to use remote with asus unknown usb receiver and an unknown usb controller? - msg#00107
List: hardware.lirc
Hi list! Everything alright?
I have an Asus Tv Fm card working fine, and a Usb IR Receiver that came
with this board, with a flat remote controler that doesnt have any name...
When i start lirc, after make some tries, i could change some channels,
some buttons work, some buttons not and some buttons are switched with
another one.... (i saw this through irxevent)
What i need to do to make this remotecontroler that i dont know the name
works... ? Write a manual config? How?!
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,

home entertainment system
Hi list,
I use LIRC with mplayer,Xmms and irmix. at present I have to start mplayer
first using mouse and then control it with lirc. same for xmms. the problem
here that you can't execute multiple application at a time but has to start
only one at a time -:(
but I have come to know from net that there are some home entertainment system
based on lirc-aware applications like AIDO, Xawtv, etc.etc..... which makes the
pc just look like a menu based TV. some of you have already used Xawtv. what
about the other applications ?? Please share your experience ( advantages,
disadvantages) of AIDO etc so that I choose the best one. I need to control
VCD/DVD/MP3/TV/RADIO -:) .
PS: long ago some of you have written a shell script to have a menu-based
system which could go into and come out from a application based on the
selection of the menu hence running multiple application. may I get that script
?
thanks for your time

the simplest way to manage which apps are running would be to use some shell
scripts and lock files, that way you could change modes (see below) and have it
kill/close the other application, i might also suggest that you look into using
mythtv for switching between apps easily then, its got a music player, the
ability to launch a dvd player (xine works best for this kind of setup), if you
decide to go the mythtv route there are some nice tutorials out there to help
you.

The simplest way to control them is to use modes, i've got a sample lircrc file
that has a couple applications controlled (in some convoluted ways, my remote
only has 24 buttons total for all things, so i've got a couple buttons that are
made to do the menus and everything.)

in this file is the sample lircrc and my small little menu setup using xosd,
its not pretty but it works, could probably be tweaked quite a bit to turn it
into something better.
anyway heres the link

Hauppauge R808 remote problem
Greetings.
I've been working on this issue for some time and can't seem to find
any similar issue in the archives or via google. I feel like I'm
very, very close, yet oh so far ;).
I have set up lirc and have tested with irw, but the channel up and
channel down buttons do not work. Most of the other buttons work:
$ irw
