Are there packages for 0.7.1? Then use them for creating the ones for
0.7.2. You may need to patch the configure step as outlined in this
thread (the one-liner with lirc_device), but I think Debian uses a
different build-at-the-user's-end approach, so you wouldn't even need
that.

No output from mode2, irrecord, or anything else.

I am running knoppMyth R5A16 and lirc 0.7.2. I have an ir receive I bought on Ebay from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/rendus/. I have tried the ir receiver on my windows box using a program called girder and it seemed to work. I could see codes at the bottom and the light changed from green to yellow like the directions said it would. I have also checked and it looks like my bios does have the serial port enabled, but I am not sure how to check in Debian if it does work. I have also read through numerous threads from here, MythTV archives and KnoppMyth forums. I still cannot get the serial receiver to work. I have tried lirc 0.7.0, 0.7.1, and currently 0.7.2. I have setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none rmmod lirc_serial modprobe lirc_serial nothing I do not have a /etc/modprobe.conf file like in fedore, but I do have an /etc/modules/lirc file which I think is the same. in there it says: alias char-major-61 lirc_serial options lirc_serial io=0x3f8 irq=4 tail -f /var/log/lircd Aug 15 22:55:48 mythtv lircd 0.7.0: caught signal Aug 15 22:57:10 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: could not open config file '/etc/lircd.conf' Aug 15 22:57:10 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: No such file or directory Aug 15 22:57:10 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: lircd(serial) ready Aug 15 22:57:40 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: accepted new client on /dev/lircd Aug 15 23:18:02 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: removed client Aug 15 23:18:24 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: accepted new client on /dev/lircd Aug 15 23:29:40 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: accepted new client on /dev/lircd Aug 15 23:29:42 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: removed client Aug 15 23:39:21 mythtv lircd 0.7.2: caught signal lsmod | grep lirc lirc_serial 14080 0 lirc_dev 15108 1 lirc_serial dmesg APIC error on CPU0: 40(40) # I get a ton of these? not sure what it is? WHat ever files you guys need or anythign I cna try please let me know. I am truly at wits end.
