Book Recommendation?: msg#00029hardware.lego.robotics
What is the recommended Mindstorms book for kids in the 11 - 13 year old range that uses ONLY RCX-code and builds software building block concepts. That is, not just "build this robot and here is its program, now build that one". But rather a book that actually teaches software concepts based upon RCX code... Such as : You use a "repeat-until" in this case, a "repeat-forever" in this case, you use a sensor watcher in this case, a "yes-no" block in this case. And, after learning those concepts, this is how they can be used to build up a simple program. Now, add this idea. Next, add this other idea... and the ideas build together in such a way that the child actually learns to "think" in terms of software constructs. The book would not focus much at all on the physical building of the robots themselves (other books do that). Many (most) books seem to be not written with this type of idea in mind. They mostly just present various robot creations, and are typically written more for adults than children of that age. And so, after all of that... are there any books out that that address more the software aspects of RCX programming? Thanks. -- Did you check the web site first?: http://www.crynwr.com/lego-robotics |
