trackfilter-init: Found track point without time

Only active tracks in Etrex have time.  Saved tracks are compressed by the unit and have the timestamp and altitudes thrown out.  Therefore, options like the one you've used that require time are doomed to fail.

Olaf, could we loosen the restriction for this case and just assume that these mangled trackpoints have a time of zero (they do, internally) and would therefore fall outside the range of the filter?

Forwarded to misc: Suggestion/request for GPSbabel

João Batista wrote: Hi Olaf, I'm sorry about contacting you directly, but this was the email address I've found in the GPSbabel site ... I found the conversion of NMEA data to KML tremendously useful -- especially the "live" feed for Google Earth, see the KML file I use in Google Earth. I'm using a file that I open in G.E. that itself updates from the live feed; see livegps.kml. (The version I'm currently using is 1.3.3-1 from the Debian 'unstable'.) So, just how it is GPSbabel is really awesome! Me and a friend are looking into good ways to study the geodata of pigeons mounted with ultra-lightweight GPS dataloggers (<30 grams), and representing data in Google Earth gives a good picture of how they fly. We use the NMEA data, and exporting it to KML is very useful. Anyway I have a couple of suggestions/feature-requests which I hope would be implemented in GPSbabel somewhere in the future. It would be very nice if a couple more information would be included in each data point: 1) For each data point, the UTC date and time; the altitude, direction, coordinates, etc are already there, but it would be useful to include the date and time of each data point when clicking each point in Google Earth. 2) The option to specify the kind of label for each datapoint, i.e., instead of having the numbering of the datapoints as 1,2,3,... have instead a specified label such as altitude, velocity or direction. So, for example, selection label=alt would procuce points labeled with '14.3', '14.3', '14.4', ... Thanks for your attention. I've also got some request for the same or nearly the same problem and I'll remove the restriction for the range filter. Garmin Etrex & Tracking conversion

HI.   I have a Garmin Etrex connected via serial to Com3:, windows XP Pro, HP Laptop.   My aim is to extract tracking info and convert this to NMEA sentences for importing into another program.   This is how I’m trying to do it –   gpsbabel.exe -p "" -t -i garmin -f com3: -x track,start=20070215000000,stop=20070215235959,fix=3d,course,speed -o nmea -F -   trackfilter-init: Found track point without time!     At present I’m only trying to output to screen to see what sort of results I would get, and only a single days tracking. It fails with the above error.   I’ve also tried ;   gpsbabel.exe -p "" -t -i garmin -f com3: -x track,start=20070215000000,stop=20070215235959,fix=3d,course,speed -o nmea,date="16,085" -F -   trackfilter-init: Found track point without time!   Same result,   Also have tried different days,   Using Waypoint+ I have been able to extract and save the tracking data, however not been able to find a compatible data format between the programs to get to the resulting NMEA sentences I’m after.   Obviously there is some sort of error in the data stored in the Etrex that is upsetting GPSBabel ??   Ideas anyone?   Cheers, No virus found in this outgoing message.
