Our Google Earth writer does include the total length of a track in
the track summary. Just expand it in the left pane of Earth. Click on
the "link" for the track you're interested in. It displays max speed,
min/max alt, and total distance.

Are you sure you're on the latest version? I added that a couple of
revs ago.
