Subject: What's the difference between waypoint, track and route?

Hi List!

As I'm a newbie to GPS things and now digging deeper into it, I'm having
some trouble being sure about the terminology.

I think I've completely read the documentation, but I'm still unclear
about the exact meaning of the following terms (or at least how they are
used by GPSBabel):

a) waypoint
b) track
c) route

It seems they are very similiar but not the same, so what's the real
difference? As it might be difficult to have an *exact* definition (as
definitions may vary), even an explanation how these terms are usually
used would help a lot understanding it - or at least how GPSBabel people
use it ;-)

These terms are often used in the GPSBabel docs, so it might be a very
good idea to add a section "basic terms" or "terminology" to the
introduction chapter of the documentation.

There's no need for a detailed description, a short explanation with
maybe two or three sentences each would be just enough IMHO.

I would even tend to write a patch for the xmldoc myself, if I would
only know what to write ... ;-)

Regards, ULFL
