The difference is slightly subtle. -s tells GPSBabel to ignore whatever shortname it was given and try to make a better one from a longer name. For example, for geocaches it throws out the GC1234 and favors "WeSheildMillions". -Sn tries to make a naming decision based on the source material. Currently the only place it makes a difference is in the Garmin writer: if we're reading geocaching input, we'll pick the name with "V" for virtual" and so on.
