I can't even make hand-built routes on Explorist work the way I'd expect
them to, but it's not a feature I've used much at all.

Can you build that route of 15 points on the explorist, save it and then
let us compare the routes?

The idea is to compare a GPSBabel generated route and an Explorist
generated route with exactly the same points to see how they differ.
It doesn't have to be 15 - as slow as the explorist is, I know that's
painful.
