Have you checked out CetusGPS? It doesn't have any on-screen mapping
functions, but it has many options and efficiently logs every possible data
field.

Assuming it works with your hardware, Cetus GPS (www.cetusgps.dk) is a
pretty good tracklogger.

Garmin Quest 2 Track data
First, I need to thank those responsible for making
GPSBabel work better. A few weeks back I asked about transferring waypoints, and
that they appeared on the Quest 2 as all uppercase. That's been fixed and makes
my life much better.
The point of this post is to ask about converting
track data. I converted a tracklog from my Quest to into a Google Earth KML
file. The points showed up in Google Earth just fine (except how do I get rid of
those annoying waypoint names appearing on the screen?). I also noticed that
when you click on a particular track point, the data from that point pops up
including the speed and heading.
Next, I exported the tracklog (from the GPS) into a
CSV file to open in Excel where I hoped to manipulate the data. In Excel, the
file contained only the latitude and longitude, and did not have the speed and
heading data I saw in Google Earth.
I'm using the Babel GUI on a Windows XP
machine.
