Subject: Re: ser_posix.c: is select()ing for the write descriptoruseful at all?

Hi there
As I am using avrdude on MacOS X, I may volunteer to check it out on the PC-based platform (Intel-based at a later point of time).
However, since I'm not reading this mail list's posts in detail, I need a briefing from someone what to be tested:
- software (which version, patch) to compile and which scenario to run?
- specific hardware, CP210x USB chip? To date I am using only a STK500v2 compatible programmer based on TDI chip (available from www.chip45.com) I have USB/RS232 converters based on CP210x but no serial programmer that I could connect behind the converter...

Cheers RAPHAEL

write descriptoruseful at all?

A fellow worker recently stumbled across avrdude not working against a
bootloader that was behind one of these Silabs CP210x USB/RS-232
bridges under Linux.

Hallo Axel! ;-)

Would anybody terribly mind removing that piece of code?

I assume that you guys already tested the patch on Linux and FreeBSD? Can we
get someone to test it on Mac OS X? (I also assume the same code is valid
for that OS.) Perhaps one of the guys over at the osxavr project (on SF) can
give it a quick run through.
